June Happenings at Schoepfle Garden

May was a flurry of activity as we caught up from a quiet April as we went from daffodils, tulips and redbuds to rhododendrons, azaleas and iris in a blink of an eye.  June is starting off as expected with mountain laurel, iris still holding up, kousa dogwoods and now the roses starting to bloom.

With all the great blooms we also have some great programs and events coming up.  Saturday June 16th 1-3 pm we have our annual garden party, this year we are having fun with Dr. Seuss and the Cat in the Hat!  Kids can create their own fox in socks puppet, enjoy snacking on truffala fruit and green eggs and ham, play some Seuss inspired games and of course ride the carousel – all for free.

We also have a Kids Bee-autiful Craft on Saturday June 23rd at 2pm in celebration of Pollinator Week, kids can bee-come aware of the importance of insects for our food chain and make their own bee crown.  Of course the carousel is running all summer long – Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays 1- 4 pm and Fridays 10am-12pm.  Wednesdays at 2pm join us for Kids in the Garden – a special program for the kids in the children’s garden that may be a hike, nature craft, story or more!  Tram runs on Thursdays 10am-1pm and Sundays 1-4 pm – we also have a special evening tram ride opportunity Sunday June 17th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.  Carousel and tram are FREE.

Finally for all you procrastinators out there who need one more hike for this year’s hiking stick, Saturday June 30th we have an early morning walk with Bagels and Blooms – $1 for a pre-hike continental breakfast at the door starting at 9am with the garden tour to start approximately 9:30am.
