Goodbye Tulips, Hello Lilacs at Schoepfle

A warm April has led to a rapid succession of blooms at the garden this spring.  While they were beautiful earlier in the week, our tulips are showing signs of decline and will not be around for long.

Many of the early spring bulbs have faded, but the trees have come on in their place with redbuds, dogwoods, viburnums and lilacs all blooming profusely throughout the garden.  A few early blooms on the rhododendrons are hinting at what is to come later in the month of May.  Columbine is also blooming and signs of more blooms along the mixed border of our perennials are showing.  Stop by soon, we have a wildflower hike Saturday 4/29 at 10am, a Grounds walk Wednesday 5/3 at 9am – walk the path and enjoy a cup of coffee; and a garden tour on Friday May 5th at 10am.  We are also offering a composting class on Saturday May 6th at 10am.
