The Peruvian Apple Cactus at the conservatory at Miller Nature Preserve bloomed last night.  This plant is native to the West Indies to Venezuela and blooms for one night.  The picture on the left was taken at 9:30 pm Tues., and by 9:30 am, Wed.  the picture on the right shows the flower mostly closed.  An edible fruit comes from the plant that is supposed to be similar to dragon fruit, but without the spines.
